Physiotherapy

Whether you have an injury, pain, or are trying to achieve your most optimal health, I will complete a thorough assessment of where you are at and provide treatment and a plan to get you back to the best version of yourself.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Are you having issues with leakage? Do you feel an overwhelming sense of having to go to the washroom all the time? Have you limited certain activities because you are worried about being away from a washroom for too long? Pelvic floor physiotherapy can help!
The pelvic floor is made up of multiple different muscles that work together to support the 'floor' of your pelvis. If there are issues with how these muscles are working together it can cause problems with bowel and bladder control, incontinence, the feeling of urgency and sometimes pelvic pain. Pelvic floor physiotherapy assesses these muscles to determine if there are issues present.
What is involved in an assessment?
A pelvic floor physiotherapist will do an internal exam of vagina and/or the anus to assess the function of the pelvic floor muscles as they are located inside the pelvic bowl. These assessments are done in a private area one on one to help make you as comfortable as possible. I also assess other components that affect your pelvic floor muscles such as posture and breathing to create a treatment plan specific to your needs. The treatment plan will be specific to the assessment findings and together we will work on improving your pelvic floor muscle function so that you can meet your goals and improve your specific symptoms. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me!

Pre and Postnatal Physiotherapy

A lot of changes happen to your body during pregnancy and physiotherapy can help to manage some of the symptoms related to these changes. I specialize in helping women prepare their bodies for labour and delivery and supporting recovery afterwards. If you are experiencing symptoms related to pregnancy such as back pain, SI joint pain, difficulty managing your day to day activities, bladder leakage, numbness and/or tingling, joint pain, or pelvic pain physiotherapy can help! Even if you aren't experiencing any sort of pain but want to know more about ways you can help prepare your body for labour and delivery, including positions that can aid in the transition of the baby during labour, I can help to prepare you for an optimal birthing experience. After birth, we can work together to safely and progressively help your body and all the parts affected by pregnancy and delivery return to pre-pregnancy function.

Vestibular Therapy

During this assessment I take a thorough look at all the factors that may be affecting your vestibular system. If you are currently experiencing vertigo, dizziness, lack of balance and/or feeling like the room is moving even when you are not this is an assessment for you. Once I know what is causing your symptoms, we can come up with a specific treatment plan to get you back to your normal self.

Post Concussion Therapy

Concussions can be complicated with many different factors influencing recovery. We will take a in-depth look at all the systems that can be affected by a concussion and determine a recovery plan. This will involve specific exercises and treatments to address specific post concussion symptoms and a plan for return to school or work as needed.

Dry Needling

What is it?

Dry needling is the insertion of one or more thin, monofilament needles into a muscle trigger point. A trigger point is a tight, irritated and often painful band of muscle tissue. This often emerges because of injury, overuse or poor movement patterns. Blood flow is restricted in these trigger points and dry needling can help promote the return of blood flow. This technique is used, when appropriate, in conjunction with other physiotherapy treatments and exercise.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the act of inserting small filliment needles into specific points on the body. When appropriate, this treatment can be used in addition to other physiotherapy treatments to help manage pain.
